One of the most exciting procedures performed at the Assil Eye Institute is Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK).

The LASIK Procedure
Initially, thorough pre-operative testing, including an evaluation of the health of the eye and computerized imaging of corneal shape and visual function (Dr. Kerry Assil was the first physician to assist in development of some of this technology), is conducted. Then, the LASIK procedure is performed in three steps:

• First, a microkeratome is used to make a thin flap in the outer layer of the cornea without damaging the surface. The flap is temporarily folded back.
