Wavefront Technology

The WaveScan is a diagnostic device which gives the doctor a representation of your vision based on the behavior of light waves. This device compares the behavior of light passing through your eye to the behavior of light as it would pass through an ideal eye with error free imaging. The result is an in-depth representation of the refractive errors or aberrations present in your vision.

WaveScan measures the refractive error of the eye with much greater precision and detail than a phoropter - with sphere and cylinder measured to within hundredths of a diopter. Your doctor uses these highly precise WaveScan measurements to plan the laser vision correction treatment delivered on the VISX STAR Excimer Laser System.
