Emily Vogel, O.D
After completing her clinical internships in private ophthalmology practices and the Fort Wayne VA medical center, Dr. Vogel pursued a primary care and low vision rehabilitation residency at the Southeastern Blind Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham, Alabama and the Birmingham VA Medical Center. She trained with an emphasis in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, diabetes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. She also provided low vision rehabilitation services for the partially sighted. During her residency, Dr. Vogel taught and mentored fourth-year optometry students at the University of Alabama School of Optometry and presented clinical grand round cases to students, ophthalmology residents and at international optometric meetings. After residency, she joined an ophthalmology practice in Charlotte, North Carolina and extensively managed ocular disease and LASIK patients.
Dr. Vogel is a board certified optometrist with DPA, TPA and DEA licenses to diagnose, treat and manage ocular disease. She provides comprehensive eye exams, consultations, pre and post-operative cataract, LASIK and corneal transplant care at the Assil Eye Institute. She works alongside Dr. Assil in clinical patient care.
