Reading Vision LASIK

Dr. Assil

As we get older, our eyes lose their natural ability to “zoom,” making reading more difficult without the use of glasses.  Dr. Assil has invented a proven method of performing LASIK that allows his patients freedom from reading glasses.  He calls the technique READING VISION LASIK(™pending) (Published in the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, February, 2008).

After Dr. Assil performs LASIK on one or both eyes, patients are able to see at all distances. Unlike Monovision, in which one eye sees clearly at distances and the other is only for reading, or CK (Conductive Keratoplasty) which provides only temporary relief, READING VISION LASIK typically enables Dr. Assil’s patients to read, work on the computer and drive without glasses or contact lenses.

READING VISION LASIK takes advantage of the fact that each individual’s pupil size is unique and customizes the shape of the cornea accordingly.  As a result, the near eye also sees better at intermediate and distance than it would with Monovision.

READING VISION LASIK can even help some patients who have previously had traditional LASIK, PRK or cataract surgery by eliminating their need for reading glasses.

Performed properly, LASIK is proven safer than contact lenses and can free you from all those reading glasses scattered around your home and office.
